CDIAC provides information, education and technical assistance on public debt and investments to local public agencies and other public finance professionals. CDIAC's continuing education seminars are offered throughout the year.
CDIAC at California Municipal Treasurer's Association Annual (CMTA) Conference
April 21, 2004, Lake Tahoe, CA
CDIAC joins CMTA at the annual conference with a session highlighting CDIAC products/services to local governments and includes a presentation on AB 943 findings. AB 943 requires cities and counties to report their quarterly fiscal statements and policy reports to CDIAC for review. Participants can engage in question and answers at session.
CDIAC Presents Fundamentals of Debt Financing
May 6-7, 2004 at The Westin in Pasadena, CA
This is the first course of CDIAC's debt seminar programs. The seminar is one and a-half days long and covers basic concepts, roles and instruments of the debt issuance process. The program will initiate discussion on initial and continuing disclosure, bond math and the fundamentals of bond sales. The cost is $225 and includes course materials.

Advanced Portfolio Management Decision Making Workshop

The program includes hands-on exercises in evaluating the various options open to local public officials when investing public funds utilizing BLOOMBERG services, and other electronic sources.
CDIAC Presents at the 24th AGL&F Fall Conference a Session on Abatement Leases
November 11, 2004, Rancho Mirage, CA
A panel will discuss credit, marketing, and legal considerations involved in various types of financing lease transactions with public agencies in the State of California. A major conduit issuer, a financial advisor and a bond counsel will provide each perspective. Emphasis will be given to California structures and issues including abatement, authority and appropriation risk.
CDIAC at the League of California Cities Annual Financial Management Seminar
December 2, 2004 at the Monterey Conference Center
CDIAC is presenting a session on municipal bond basics, entitled, The ABC's of Debt Management. The session will cover a brief background on the history of bonds, the team players in a transaction, critical legal documents, disclosure and current issues on the central post office system, and methods of structuring a bond and positioning an issue for sale.
Previous Seminars
General Information
Seminar locations alternate between Northern and Southern California and are geographically dispersed to target markets where education on public debt issuance and investments are appropriate. The programs are geared towards public agency officials and their staffs responsible for or involved in the issuance of municipal bonds, the administration of bonded debt or the investment of public funds. Representatives of cities, counties, special districts, school and community college districts, redevelopment agencies, and elected officials are especially encouraged to attend. Registration is limited to public officials. No walk-in registrations are accepted. The cost for each program varies depending upon which program is being held.
