The Student Ambassador Program at Mount St. Mary’s College

One of the most effective and influential outreach programs at Mount St. Mary’s College, the Student Ambassador Program partners with local area high schools and community-based organizations to motivate thousands of high school students and other youth to complete school and aspire to a college education. Many MSMC Ambassadors return to their alma maters and other high schools, housing developments, community youth organizations, and learning centers to actively mentor at-risk youth through the college admissions process. Ambassadors serve as the ideal role models for their mentees because they often come from the same community, if not the same high school, as their mentees and are able to show by their own example that higher education can be an attainable goal. Through this mentoring partnership, MSMC Student Ambassadors develop leadership, interpersonal, and social skills, while providing critically needed encouragement and guidance to Los Angeles’ inner-city youth.
