The Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis (CHEPA) in the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California, in partnership with UNITE-LA will enhance three projects that focus on academic access for low-income urban youth:
- Increasing Access via Mentoring (I AM) Program – I AM is an action based intensive mentoring model where faculty and graduate students from USC, and local college access professionals, guide college-ready low-income high school seniors through the college and financial aid application processes through one-on-one mentoring.
- Cash for College Campaign (CFC): The CFC Campaign is a series of college preparation activities and financial aid workshops for high school students who are significantly underrepresented in applications for financial aid and four-year college enrollment.
- SummerTIME: TIME is an acronym for Tools, Information, Motivation and Education. SummerTIME is a four-week course that provides advanced writing instruction and instrumental college information for low-income college bound students. The SummerTIME writing class is taught by college-level writing instructors and takes place in the same classrooms and computer labs used by USC undergraduates to provide SummerTIME participants with “real world” college experience.
