Statement of California State Treasurer John Chiang on Formation of the U.S. Climate Alliance
June 1, 2017
SACRAMENTO – “As the State’s banker, I am committed to working with Governor Brown and the other members of the U.S. Climate Alliance to uphold the Paris Agreement goals. It is time for all good people to come to the aid of the planet. Now more than ever it is important that we find innovative solutions to fund the clean-energy infrastructure that ensures our future.
“Green bonds empower ordinary people to do something about climate change by using the marketplace to serve the public good. We are creating an opportunity for Americans who care deeply about drinkable water, breathable air, and clean transportation to invest in their future. Washington can’t stop us.
"The skeptics and deniers are wrong. And they have always been. California is committed to moving forward, and I am committed to finding a way to pay for it."
