Treasurer Chiang to Speak at UN and Urge Nations
and Financial Institutions to Follow
California’s Lead in Going Tobacco-Free

California State Treasurer John Chiang will speak before world leaders, the heads of the world’s largest financial institutions, and global health professionals tomorrow at the United Nations General Assembly at a high-level event held by Tobacco Free Portfolios and co-sponsored by the French and Australian governments. Treasurer Chiang will speak about the importance of governments and financial institutions excluding tobacco holdings, and the process that CalPERS and CalSTRS — the nation’s two largest pension funds — undertook to achieve tobacco-free funds.
